When Wrong Feels Right

What sorrow for those who say
that evil is good and good is evil,
that dark is light and light is dark,
that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.

Isaiah 5:20– Bible Gateway NLT

Good Morning Monday!

Thank you God, we chose and laid out clothes the night before.  As I’ve said before, when dealing with Bethany-  “hurry” is a useless word that only serves to agitate the one vocalizing that sentiment!

As Bethany finally got dressed, ate breakfast, found her school planner and backpack, her locker key, her teeth brushed, hair combed- we went to her chariot (ummm cherry red van). I gave her a quick perusal from head to toe- her new shoes were on the wrong feet.

shoes

“Babe- your shoes are on the wrong feet.”

“No, they’re not.”

“Yes, they are- switch them, ok?”

She looked me straight in the eyes and with conviction declared,

*

“I don’t care! – they feel right to me.”

 😉 – love this girl!

It should be so simple-

I’m right- you’re wrong-

change how you’re doing it. period.

[Tweet “There are #absolutes of #right and #wrong- and it doesn’t depend on our #feelings.”]

But one reason I love this girl- is I constantly see me- in her! Is this stubborn insistence what God faces when He tries to correct me!?!  Is His correction to help, guide, direct, enlighten- swatted away with indifference and thinking foolishly that if it feels right to me- its right?

“Cindy- you’re doing “this” wrong.”

“I don’t think so- it feels right to me.”

Wearing shoes on the wrong foot isn’t really a big deal. The big deal is doing things because we think they “feel” right.

[Tweet “Feelings are Fickle- there’s only 1 “right” standard for life- the Word of God!”]

I’m glad the Lord is patient- 🙂  I wonder if He ever rolls His eyes or sighs loudly?????

– probably not-

He is,

unlike me-

in Sovereign control.

Oy!! Such a hard thing to overcome, that stubbornness born of “feeling” everything seems right. You are my hero, Cindy… I know, I know… You rely on God’s grace, and so do I, but still……………………………….. 🙂

Oh, Cindy! What a precious illustration of our chronic inability to recognize our “doing what seems right” in our own eyes! The Bible does tell us that God laughs (Psalm 2:1-4a), so I wouldn’t be a bit surprised that he’d roll His eyes, too! 🙂 Hug that girl for me, Sweetheart!

You got me laughing too! That’s a thought isn’t it? I’ll give her a hug from you. 🙂 Oh that my ears would hear, my heart would obey, my mind choose His ways. hugs Edy!

[panel style=”default” title=”About Cindy” text_align=”left”]Jeff & Cindy

Hi, I’m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. I’m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastor’s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of God’s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
