Today we watched our son, Micah, and nephew Sean, fulfill the tradition “walking the hill” for graduation! Rock Chalk Jay Hawk!

How do I begin to describe the experience of all the sights and sounds of a KU graduation?
Over 4000 graduating students walked down the long, infamous, hill; beginning at the bell tower, they embark on their victory walk. Bells peal a glad sound as the those who have overcome and persevered- embark on their victory walk. A milestone. They continue the walk down to the football arena and fill up the assigned areas by their degrees and majors. By the time they have finally all arrived, the band playing Pomp and Circumstance for over an hour! Nearing the last ten minutes, I got misty eyed as Micah and Sean came striding proudly down the hill! What an accomplishment! Not just graduating- but graduating debt free! I need to have them write their own blog of how hard work, living at home, and making sacrifices make that doable.!
Both these young men finished school as husbands and have a vision to serve God with their talents and lives. I can’t think of anything better to celebrate today!
Micah and his beautiful wife, Adrienne Barclay (who graduated from Baker University) just the week before! (also graduated debt free!)
What an honor to read about young men who graduating debt free with families.
I would prefer the book over the music.
I know Joanney- I should tell Micah and Sean to write down how they did it! 🙂 I know on Micah’s part, it was scholarships and a huge mowing business he owns and operates during the summer months that paid the bills not only for college but all living expenses.
The KU graduation ceremony/event is special & an experience, I agree! You describe it well, Cindy. Praise God for the beautiful weather to celebrate!
I do want to go on record–attn KU decision-makers–as not in favor of a Sunday a.m. ceremony. I understand all the issues with weather & re-scheduling throughout the day & travel & such, but one should not have to choose between this celebration & a regular, traditional time of worship to God, who caused it all to happen!
Congratulations, Micah! May God continue to bless you & Adrienne!
I’ll pass on the congratulations to Micah and Adrienne- she just has one semester of student teaching next fall and it will be her turn to graduate from Baker!
Cindy…How proud of your kids can one get? It is certainly a tribute to you and Jeff and the way you raised them in the love of the Lord. It is awesome and shows what God can do. Tell them congrats from the Robinson family. I love reading all your posts. I love your family and I want to share (even long distance) all their accomplishments. Keep up the great messages from our Lord.
Thanks Char- you are such a faithful “commentator” I should have a special prize just for you!!! 🙂
