Mankind is our Business
Life is a blessing- a gift from God.
But when life gets overwhelming- it’s easy for me to wish, fixate, yearn for “the better Life ahead” you know, the one where all our troubles will be over, God will wipe away our tears & He will live with us and be our Father- with God. It is our Blessed Hope- that God is making all things new!
But I’ve found, I MUST NOT ponder or yearn for heaven too long. To yearn for the future is to check out of the present. Heaven is to treasure to tuck away in our heart until its glory be realized.
For now-I fix my eyes on the race before me.
You and I have a job to do. Many treasures to find. Hidden glories to discover. Mysteries to be revealed. Eternal riches to be stored up.
We have a job to do!
Here.
Now.
Even in the dark.
Especially in the tough times.
[Tweet “Our job is: Love and Life in God, for God, and with God.”]
Mother Theresa said, “A life not lived for others is not a life.”
Marley’s Ghost warns us, “
“Mankind was my business. The common welfare was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, benevolence, were all my business. The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business! “
Jesus clarifies & distills all the commandments of God to one-
John 13:35 34-35 “Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.”
We are called to His glorious purposes- We all have a job to do!
Surprising Treasure- So let us not grow weary of well doing- for in due season you will reap- if you faint not.
I haven’t thought of the quote from Marley’s ghost in years! Charles Dickens had such a kindred heart; thanks for the interesting reminder treasure. FYI, I don’t know if it is something with my computer or not, but your posts have been showing up running down the left-side panel, with all white space in the main area. I couldn’t even locate you way down here for a couple weeks! Just so you know. Hugs and love always!
Hugs Edy- I love A Christmas Carol- I’ll double check my updates- glad you found me again!
Anybody else having trouble??????
Many people also get discouraged in this life we live because they think that just because they “do” for others, many will do back for them. That isn’t always the case. I encourage people everyday to keep living – to keep giving – regardless of what others do because it’s GOD who truly matters.
and besides…. WE will get the blessings from living a life of giving….just like Jesus did.

you bless me sooo much!
@spreadingJOY
You’ve nailed it on the head Marie- a life of giving – is the most fulfilling, joyful living- freely give- because we freely have received. God has given us so much! how could we not share His love with others- there are so many in this world that are lonely- poor in spirit- isolated- rejected- how little it takes to offer a smile, an encouraging word, a meal, a hug, a prayer, a listening ear- these things only “cost” are time but are more valuable than most people know. So many people seem to chase fulfillment by taking instead of giving- living for what? for who? Thanks for taking the time to comment- you inspire me- if everyone would give what they could- in their own way- the world would be pretty incredible! hugs (You inspire me 😉 )
Love this one, Cindy. We do have to stay focused on the job of living—every single day—for Him and in Him.
And speaking of jobs to do…I hope you haven’t given up your publishing plans. Your treasures need to be shared!
Miss chatting with you~

Susan! You are an encourager- I’m probably a fourth of the way done organizing- maybe more- lol- but my time seems to go in spurts and then I lose my focus- starting- stopping- hugs and blessings my sweet sister! Have a beautiful Thanksgiving! Thanks for all you’re doing to spread the news about Saige! I love her!
So we soldier on… doing our duty, but with a smile on our face and a skip to our step! Serving in a post-Christian society where we are wanted least and needed the most.
I LOVED your sermon Sunday- We are in battle and I want to stay on the firing line with you! Eyes on the sky- heart in heaven- feet on the earth.
What a wonderful post filled with many great Bible verses to remember daily! Thanks so much for sharing….God bless!
Good morning Christine! thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment! I get so tired and exhausted from the constant NEEDS around me- and yet I try to go back to this principal- God’s business is mankind and He’s made it my business also- Jesus said- I must be about my Father’s business! Hugs and blessings- Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
