Can you believe Bethany just embarked on her Senior Year in High School???? I’ve been blogging our adventures since 2010?!! And what a journey it’s been!
Life certainly has it’s ups and downs. Down Syndrome; the diagnosis I never wanted has become the “gift” that has transformed me the most.
The joys have been sweeter than imagined,
the challenges have lasted longer than dreamed,
the fears have been faced and overcome with God’s help,
and the seeking for His plans and purposes continue.
Senior Year is looking challenging and awesome for our girl! We’re home schooling all of her academics; Bible, Literature, Biology, World History, The Impact of Social Media, Consumer Math, and Fit for Life. We’re exploring possibilities for post high school education at the local Junior College.

But the most exciting addition is an internship at a preschool here in Lawrence, where Bethany will be helping teach the 3,4 year old class! #DreamsComeTrue
On her first day last week, I got a text from Bethany.
“This is awesome. I love the kids. I am reading and doing puzzles with them. I got to help with lunch. I rub their backs and help them fall asleep. This is so great. “
Moriah picked her up at the end of her time and they say a picture’s worth a thousand words. 🙂 #Joy

As I’ve discovered in the past, for Bethany, her milestones in life, take more time and planning. They move more like a lazy river than the rapid running stream. I was once a hurry up kind of mom, but since Bethany has an allergic reaction to the “H” words- “hurry up” “hustle” I’m actually learning to love this strolling, stop and smell the roses life.
Surprising Treasures: A Big shout out to our Father for getting us this far!!!! 🙂 I truly stand in awe about what He has done in all of our lives.
Ephesians 3:20 “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”
This brought tears to my eyes. You and your support team have done a wonderful job. God knows best, if we just remember and focus on that. God bless you, Bethany and your whole family.
Awwww. Thanks Kris- It is so difficult at the beginning- when life throws you a curve ball- You’re so right and I’m still learning it (although I know it better than I did 20 years ago) God always knows best- and He will bring us through. hugs
