[Tweet “I cry out to You. When my heart is #overwhelmed; Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I. Ps 61:2”]
I feel like I’m a styrofoam cup of lukewarm Kool Aide.
Diluted. Weak.
Right now- in this season- Life is not a dream that’s merrily, merrily rolling along.
Life is like a riding the rapids without a boat; hurtling, swirling, rushing, cascading along.
I am breathless, battered.
I am overwhelmed.
I want to list everything that is overwhelming me so that you’ll know I have good reason to be overwhelmed! How crazy is that? But the old adage that “misery loves company” rings true because we need to know we’re not alone in our sufferings.
We ALL know what it’s like to be overwhelmed; exhausted and drained. We share our sorrows and pains, and somehow feel better, just knowing we’re not the only one going through hard times.
Jesus knows what it’s like to be overwhelmed; exhausted and drained. He shares our sorrows and pains- when we let Him.
I keep reminding myself: God isn’t “way up there” watching our lives play out. NO! He’s right here- with us! He identifies and is compassionate about every single stinking thing life is throwing at us.
But better than compassion- better than presence- better than understanding; Jesus- the One who swallowed up death by death- He has the power and the will to overwhelm our problems with peace, joy, grace, and mercy.
KEY POINT
God is with us in the crazy mess called life and He is working His glory every step of the way. (Romans 8:28 isn’t just a glib promise)

I’m struggling to learn – this KEY- this SOLUTION- this PANACEA – to not let life swallow me whole-
Here it is-
I need to be overwhelmed by God’s Love & Power instead being overwhelmed by life’s problems.
Seriously- I’ve sung about it– “Turn your eyes upon Jesus- look full in His wonderful face- and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.”
I’ve read about it-
John 16:33- Amplified- 33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]
But I’m still learning
when I am overwhelmed and being swallowed up by life
to run to the Only One who can help me.
He is speaking to my heart,
“Life is killing you- Let me resurrect you. Life is sucking you dry- Let Me fill you. Life is ripping you apart- Let Me make you whole.
Life is overwhelming you- Let Me Overwhelm you!”
And there we have it. In a nut shell. One simple, incredible, mystifying life hack.
The only thing that can obliterate life’s relentless destruction– is running to the One who has defeated death, hell, and the grave- and let Him overwhelm our overwhelmedness.
Our Jesus- Friend, Helper, Shepherd, Elder Brother, and Victor over all.
[Tweet “Let God’s love and power #Overwhelm your overwhelmedness. #GodsLove”]
PRAYER: God overwhelm us with YOUR greatness, goodness, mercy, and love.
God overwhelm our overwhelmedness !
Surprising Treasure: He is Victor over all- and all means everything!
Thank you times infinity! This is the message I needed to hear right now. Wow.
Hugs,
Theresa
hugs- Wow for me too! I needed to hear this right now! Isn’t God so good to encourage us???
A bit stressed and strained, but your words laced with His promises made me remember…
“Jesus knows what it’s like to be overwhelmed; exhausted and drained. He shares our sorrows and pains- when we let Him.”
“I keep reminding myself: God isn’t “way up there” watching our lives play out. NO! He’s right here- with us! He identifies and is compassionate about every single stinking thing life is throwing at us.”
Release. Relief. Rest. Ready.
Sometimes we just need to breathe- release- rest- and breathe again.
Hi Cindy.
