What was Jesus thinking when He said,
“let not your hearts be troubled?”
Seriously?
Like I can flip a switch to turn off my brain?
e
There’s a ton to be troubled about. He might have as well said to me- Don’t worry about anything– oh wait- He said that too 🙂 ! Getting back to the troubling words of not being troubled.

They’re troubling and yet there’s something so comforting and compelling when I hear those words-
Let not–
your heart–
be troubled.
I don’t want to let my heart be troubled but reality is my heart is troubled daily- hourly.

But on the world wide level- I’m troubled.
Fear for our country, terrorism, wars, plagues, economic collapse- ok – that’s enough because I feel my blood pressure rising even as I’m typing. 😉
Let not your hearts be troubled- You believe in God….
e
BUT as a Pastor’s Wife I’m troubled:
It seems so many Christians are “barely” engaged- hey- sometimes- I’m barely engaged! What if things get so bad and people aren’t equipped to weather the tough times? What if we don’t have “spiritual roots” or knowledge to survive these evil days?
r
Let not your hearts be troubled- You believe in God- Believe also in me…..
e
As a wife and mom I’m troubled- our financial future, our children’s freedom and economic security-Bethany and our grandchildren being raised in this postmodern- anti-God culture
Let NOT your hearts be troubled- You believe in God
Believe also in me.
In my Father’s house, there are many rooms- I go to prepare a place for you.

We hold the key to “LET NOT”
Jesus tells us to not be troubled because He guarantees the ending.
We believe in God. We believe His love for us is supreme and that it cannot fail.
We believe He is preparing a place for us- He’s coming back for us.
It’s a promise. undeniable- unshakeable- irrevocable- set in stone- forever settled.
The economy may fail, wars may break out, natural disasters may wreak havoc on this old, groaning earth. It is but birth pangs to the promise!
We are to LET NOT OUR HEARTS BE TROUBLED!
Why?
Because we believe in God.
And He is great
and full of tender mercies
and compassionate
and long suffering
and He is in process of making all things new.
The greatest rescue of the age is unfolding right now- while everything is falling apart
He is making everything new!
Let not your hearts be troubled- You believe in God!
New Living Translation
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
1“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. 2There is more than enough room in my Father’s home.a If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?b 3When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. 4And you know the way to where I am going.”
New Living Translation
The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
New Living Translation
“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
New Living Translation
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Absolutely love this!!!
Sweet Serena- the last three days have been “wasted” in my mind- because Bethany has been very sick and I haven’t been able to accomplish very much- BUT look what message God has been stirring in my heart! LET NOT your heart be troubled! You believe in God- God is so good at putting things in perspective- when I let Him 😉 Have a wonderful week!
Beautiful reminder that I needed this morning…It’s so easy to feel despondent at times in this sad and chaotic world, but JESUS IS COMING SOON! Let’s just keep our eyes on the eastern sky and seek Him with all our hearts….
Soon…..
Yes- we’ll encourage each other daily- to keep looking up and not get discouraged because He is who He said He is and He has promised He has overcome the world! Love you Becky- so grateful for my twitter sisters 🙂
The past few days Bethany has often repeated this sentence- “Thank you for taking care of me mommy…” She even said this to big bro Josh yesterday. Cindy, you have redeemed the time… and that is Biblical living.
awwww- thank you honey- you know how difficult it is to not feel “productive” – love you and our family! Pure TREASURE
What a refreshing uplifting start to my Wednesday! I felt lifted this morning after reading this Cindy! He keeps lifting us higher! So high, that soon we’ll be gone! Blessed by your gift.
oh Kathy- I love that- He keeps lifting us higher- so high that soon we’ll be gone!!! That is a gem! hugs sweet friend! One glad morning we shall see Jesus in the air! hugs
Oh, Cindy, dear kindred spirit sister, your uplifting message reminds me of a time when I was weeping in fearful prayer over my husband’s chest pains (he’d left for work, anyway). The still, small Voice whispered in my ear, “Be of good cheer!” which made me dive into the Word to find the quote. By the time I was done, I had a three-point “sermon” – the trusting heart, the strengthened heart, and the joyful heart! Isn’t God an awesome Savior! God bless YOUR bumpity heart, and thank you so much, my dear!
Precious Edy- Isn’t it amazing that we can be in such distress- surrounded by fear- pummeled by worry- and His precious word lifts us- fills us- surrounds us- anchors us! God is mighty and awesome! Thank you for sharing your story with me! I’m glad I’m not the only one who weeps or prays fearful prayers! 🙂 hugs
