I love the story of the man methodically picking up and throwing starfish back in the ocean- one at a time. Someone ridiculed him and chided, “You’ll never be able to save all of them….why even bother- does it really make a difference?”
He wisely replied, “It makes a difference to this one!”
We can’t allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by the magnitude of need in this world, or we’ll be duped into thinking we can’t make a difference.
I can’t save every orphan but I can help one!
Today- November 1st- starts the Reece’s Rainbow Angel Tree~
Because of this incredible ministry, in just 7 years- over 1200 orphans have found their FOREVER FAMILY.

If you were following me last year, you’ll remember my Christmas Wish was to raise funds for a precious little girl in China – with down syndrome- named Saige. Bethany and Cohen even did a “virtual” lemonade stand on FB- raising over 500.00 to help Saige’s adoption fund. I was blown away by your generosity as you helped Surprising Treasures, raised over $3000.00 for Saige last year! But my heart aches to send her home.

This year- Saige is still waiting for her forever family.
Could you help by one of these ways?
1- praying Saige will know the love of a family
2- re-posting/sharing this blog with as many people as you think might help
3- donate $ directly to her fund at Reece’s Rainbow
to Saige’s fund-
I am asking- Will you help just one?
Jesus said- when you do it to the “least of these” you do it unto me.
About 300,000 children waiting to be adopted. About 100,000 churches in America. If a family in one out of every three could adopt a child…
The church is the answer.
If God provided us the $-
Thanks for this post, Cindy! I agree that people look at the global need and forget that we can all do our part right where we are. If each of us just did a little, imagine what a change that would make in the world.
I’ll be sharing this post and helping spread the word about little Saige.
You’re such a blessing, friend. Thanks for reminding us of how easy it is to make a difference.
Hugs to you,
Susan
Thank you so much Susan! Bethany kept begging us to be her mom and dad- she wants her to be her sister- She just doesn’t understand the amount of money it takes to adopt- if the money wasn’t an issue- I would like to think we would embrace Saige into our family- but the “realistic” voice in my head yells- “you’re 54- what in the world are you thinking?” All I know is – our heart is tied to this little girl and I pray God sets her in a family. hugs Susan!
Beautifully written! So wonderful that you and Bethany have helped this precious little one. It does matter, and every effort is worthwhile. God bless you, Cindy, for all you do! Love you!
thanks Becky. I get overwhelmed so easily- I won’t even go to an animal shelter because I’m so sad I want to bring home every pet. But children- sigh- what a blessing- I got on Reece’s Rainbow last year and bawled my eyes out. I was depressed and overwhelmed for days- and then the Lord kinda shook me out of it and I knew I had to do something for just one. I went through the list again, but this time, I was captivated by Saige. Our whole family helped raise money and awareness but I think the most precious response to me- was Bethany- begging to go to China and “just get her mom- I’ll share my room- you and dad can be her parents.” Her words still haunt me- I could not do enough to see this little girl adopted. Thanks for commenting! hugs
Cindy thank you so much for bringing this tory to my attention. I truly believe that Saige’s family is there. God has it all figured out. I am praying that her forever family soon realizes the incredible blessing God has in store for them. 🙂
Hugs!
Thank you ! Thank you! Thank you! Theresa! That is my prayer this year- it’s great when we raise money for her adoption but Bethany and I are praying every day- bring Saige her FOREVER FAMILY this year Lord- pleeeeeaaaaaasseee!!!! spread the story far and wide
