The first day of school has come and gone- but not without a fashion show and a lot of debate about what to wear. Amy, Bethany, and Finley (5th, 6th, and 2nd) tried on outfits. ( many outfits! 😉 )
I was barely holding in my laughter as they debated about what was too fancy, definitely not for the 1st day but appropriate for later, awesome mix and match or bland and boring. Finally, they all decided- the first day would be “understated coolness” but their 2nd and 3rd day outfits would have the “wow” factor.
Here’s a pic of all the girls on their first day. (may I add Spencer did NOT worry about his clothes OR participate in the fashion show lol)
Caught up in the excitement and fun of stylin’- I completely missed my opportunity to tell them the most important thing they should wear every day! But I’m planning a quirky fashion show of my own. One I hope they’ll never forget. The fashion show that shows the most important clothing might not be cut out of cloth. It reminded me of the old story- The Emperor’s New Clothes. Eventually, the Emporer was so enamored with himself that he believed a lie that he was brilliantly and regally dressed- only to find out later- he was really naked.
Clothe yourselves with
compassion,
kindness,
humility,
gentleness
and
patience.
~ Colossians 3:12””
It doesn’t matter what we wear as long as we’re wearing what God wants us to wear!
Surprising Treasure: Colossians 3:14 And above all these put on LOVE, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
I had to share this lovely fun and joy with my husband. I’m so glad to be a mouse in the corner and see such events through your eyes! And, you know how I relish your spiritual applications. Thanks, again, for a heart-warming chuckle – give your girls a big hug from me, and that will give some back to you, too! 🙂
I will give them your hugs! They love hugs! (and of course- so do I 😉 ) Those three girls are quite the “show”. The things they come up with! 🙂
Understated coolness is the story of my life…
Bethany’s dad.
And that’s exactly why I married you- “understated” coolness! lol- Hon- there’s nothing understated about you. <3:
Thanks for sharing this sweet story. Sure brought back memories. Love the way you connected to Colossians 3:2. I never visit your blog without being blessed!! Love you! Hugs!
