Fragrances: Tickling our noses, warming the soul, memories flooding your heart…..

Apples & Cinnamon, fresh pine scent from an evergreen tree, sugar cookies baking, freshly cut grass, flowers after it rains, the woodsy smell of a walk in the forest, Old Spice, an ocean breeze, Baby Magic, the fresh smell of a new car, scented candles, mouthwatering smell of bacon frying, or how do you describe the delectable smell of coffee brewing in the morning?

Recently, Sarah, Finley, and Cohen were flying home to Kansas.  Finley, happily snuggled up to Sarah and said,

“Mom, I just want to smell Kansas!”

When Sarah told me, I laughed and knew just what Finley meant!

Is there a better smell than home? How do you smell the joy?

Sarah told me when she was little, she loved snuggling up with my coat in the pew at church so she could “smell” me. lol And Moriah had a lingering cold when she was little. She would blow her nose, then quickly bury her nose in my shirt and breathe in very dramatically!

I said, “What in the world are you doing Riah??”

She grinned, “Mommy, since I had this cold I haven’t been able to smell you. I miss your mommy smell.”

[Tweet “Did you know- God is taking deep breaths- smelling our lives!”]

When we serve others- our fragrance is perfume to Him.

When we love with His love- He breathes deeply, rejoicing in the zesty savor of our lives!

Our prayers- our praise- our worship- our devotion to Him- is something He delights, revels in, sings and rejoices over.

It is that tangible to Him.

He might say something like  “Ahhhh- the joy of smelling  my children’s lives! They make my heart glad when they are living through my Spirit!”
I could almost cry with joy they smell so good! I will pour out the oil of joy and fragrance of my Spirit until they are perfuming the whole world.”

You know Finley, I love to smell Kansas too – but most of all, I just want to SMELL LIKE JESUS!

Surprising Treasure:   May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. Ps. 141:2

Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing. II Cor. 2:15

What a delightful little girl! And, what is it about certain aromas that instantly transport us to special memories in our keepsake files! Thank God that He uses us cracked and broken earthen vessels to leak out the fragrance of Jesus to a world so in need of knowing Him!

Hi there. I just followed you over here from Twitter, and I’m so glad I did. My family and I just moved home to Ohio after a year overseas in Germany. When our boxes and stuff finally arrived last week
(after 9 weeks of not seeing it), we opened up the boxes and smelled our home in Germany all over again! 🙂 It was so, so fun! The memories. The closure. All of it. Thanks for making me smile today.

Hugs and welcome back to “home” Brianna. Smells can flood our memories can’t they? What captured my thought was an old song we used to sing- Let my praise be to You- be as incense- and I began to pray that God would make my fragrance one that would refresh others and bless Him. May He fill your home with laughter, joy, and lots of comforting smells of love and praise! hugs new found sister in the Lord! nice to meet you!

Hi, I’m Cindy- 35 years of “livin” with my prince charming, Jeff. I’m a home maker, not a house wife, parent of 7, memory maker, mama bear, Nana to 11 & counting, Pastor’s wife and I’m daily amazed by the depths of God’s love.

I love reading, home schooling, encouraging others, playing the piano, worshiping, dating my husband, and planning parties and retreats for our clan. Someday, I really want a horse and learn to play the cello and viola.
