Whew! What a week! First the COOL part!
Micah and Adrienne gave birth to their little girl- drum roll please- **************
Mataya Joy- meaning God’s gift of joy!
Adrienne’s water broke Saturday morning and I rushed to the hospital to sit and pray and anticipate. The day wore on and still no baby. Finally, when a different nurse came to check her, they determined the baby was breech- not head down as they had thought! 🙁 With heartbeats fine and everyone healthy, the next choice was to get that baby out with a C-section. Thirty minutes later, all the grandparents got a text from Micah saying, “Come to the nursery window and meet Matayah Joy.” 8 pounds, 21 inches long, lots of dark hair – b e a u t i f u l! Praising God for a safe delivery, we’re were “floating home” to lay our tired heads on our pillows at 12:30 am! A long- but glorious day!
I can’t even tell you how jam-packed Sunday was but you have to know we figured out how to sneak some precious time of holding that new grandgirl. Ahhhhh! There is nothing better than snuggling pure love and innocence!!!
That brings us to Monday. Is it really almost the end of August? Things have been so busy I didn’t get to post Bethany’s pics on the first day of school this year! Another transition year- 5th grade sounds so much older than 4th grade- and middle school- why- that sounds ridiculously grown up! I didn’t cry this year but I did tear up as she gave us high fives and assured us we could go. “I fine. You can go now. Bye.” OK then. 🙂 So far – so good. Finley started first grade at Broken Arrow— I already miss those half days at home with her! Who thought up 8 hour school days anyway? Gracious! Bethany, Cohen and I are home schooling in the morning and hen we take her to school at 11:30 for recess, Science, and Social Studies (along with services- speech etc.)
And then there are college days to get used to. My little Moriah (hmmm?- she can’t be little if she’s going to college) started Junior College today and Joshua is pursuing a ministry opportunity in Canada for this semester! Wow. Then, on top of it all, my blood tests from my physical came back with elevated enzyme levels from my liver soooooo- I get to have my very first sonogram tomorrow-of my liver! Mind you, I’ve been pregnant 7 times and never had 1 sonogram and now I get a pic of my liver? lol
What exciting changes for everyone! And through it all, He is our anchor, our “North Star”, our Strong Tower. I run to Him daily and say, “Keep me centered. Keep me on your path. Don’t let me get distracted by things that don’t matter. Focus me on your presence. Fill me so I can be a blessings to others. Help me- Help me-Help us all!
The precious sense of family and love throughout this post filled my heart with a warmth of His presence. Hugs!
Congrats on the little bundle of joy! Is there anything sweetie the softness of newborn as you cradle them in your arms?
Oh Rita! My cup overflows with blessing and thankfulness! I hold Mataya and I sense heaven’s goodness! I’m wonderfully exhausted after this week!
Cindy, tell Bethany I enjoyed seeing her picture (yours too!) in the LJW earlier this week!
Congratulations to all of you on Mataya Joy’s safe arrival! Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!
LJW? really? I saw my dad made it into the paper as a fashion statement 🙂 but I didn’t know Beth’s pic was in! God is so good and it’s times like these that I’m reminded of His forever goodness and mercy!
It was on the front page of the Sports section on Saturday, August 18

Congratulations on the new baby’s arrival. What a beautiful name – one I’ve never heard, before. You’ll have to share what it means. Life sure swirls all around you, Cindy! Hugs 🙂
Thanks Edy! Mataya is the feminine form of Mathias- meaning “gift from God”. Joy is Adrienne’s middle name but the cool thing is it’s my middle name too and our daughter- Sarah middle name too! Gotta keep the JOY bubblin! hugs
