“Bing gives you
the power to decide what your holidays will look like. So you can celebrate
your way.”

WOW! The above picture and words are the new Ad campaign by BING. It grabbed my attention! It seems to me, as I observe the fa-la-la-la-la going on, maybe people are relying on Bing to help them create their own, unique Christmas traditions. Thanks Bing- But I think I’ll let Jesus help me decide how to celebrate Christmas. 🙂

WE CAN DECIDE WHAT OUR HOLIDAYS OUR GOING TO LOOK LIKE? Yup! WE REALLY CAN!

The Barclays and Surprising Treasures have decided on a theme for Christmas this year. From now until Epiphany in January, we will be savoring, celebrating, and thanking God for two words that changed everything.

FEAR NOT!

In a world where FEAR is as common as a cold or numerous as dust bunnies under our beds, God’s word to us is FEAR NOT! I’d love for you to join us. I’ll be posting more (but shorter 🙂 ) posts and trying to post everyday on Facebook. I’m calling it

FORTY FABULOUS DAYS OF FEAR NOT.
This is the very essence of the GOOD NEWS!
FEAR NOT! DON’T BE AFRAID. DO NOT BE TERRIFIED. FEAR NOT!
*
Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “FEAR NOT!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. 11 The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David.” LUKE 2:9

Surprising Treasure: Why would God tell us “FEAR NOT”? (there’s a ton of hidden treasure in those two words if we really dig for it. Why not share your insight with all of us 🙂 ) Come on Treasure Hunters- give it up 🙂
Congratulations to Amy Moreno for winning the IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE dvd!
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in Thee tonight- O Little Town of Bethlehem- performed by Evie
Regarding fear- There are many promises upon which I stand, but perhaps my biggest one is Hebrews 2:15 “and might deliver all them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” I only want to be subject to Jesus. When I was little guy I was scared to death of death. Jesus changed that!
Amen! Fear is a tool the enemy has used in my life for years- but Jesus is triumphantly changing that. If He is for us- who then shall I fear?
What an awesome focus–takes us through all the preparations, the celebrating & the abrupt social/cultural letdown! Count me in!
Isn’t there something about “fear not” being the most often used phrase in the Bible!
Yup! I was going to use that in a future blog- In the movie- Facing the Giants- they point out that there are 365 Fear Nots in the Bible- one for each day of the year!!!!
Fear is a very strong hold on many people in various ways. Cindy do you remember how afraid I was of taking the Women’s Ministry? It was all to do with fear. As soon as I heard Jeff preach that “God didnt need ability…He just needed availability” and it got in my spirit…I gave in and if you remember our first meeting…I said the noise they probably heard was my knees knocking together in fear:) But thank God I didnt give in to fear. It surely is a strong foot hold. Love your “Treasures” Cindy.
I remember Charlene! LOL! God is so tenderhearted to us- He wants to give us brave hearts for Him. <3
Jeff already mentioned the first verse that came to mind when I saw this posting. That verse caught my attention in recent months and struck me that everyone is in bondage to fear of death. And, it is precisely that “everyone” that Jesus came to deliver. What a magnificent Treasure He is! I love your Advent-to-Epiphany focus on “Fear not!” What a perfect season for exploring these comforting words – thank’s so much, Cindy!
This Christmas season is so “brilliantly colored” for me already. It’s like God is putting a magnifying glass to the GOOD NEWS of GREAT JOY for ALL PEOPLE and I just want to share it. It doesn’t matter that half (or more :)) don’t celebrate His birth or even looking for His second coming- I just want to celebrate it in a way to help them see how beautiful and eternally reaching CHRISTmas really is- GOD BECAME MAN! WOW!
Edy- I thought of you as I posted O Little Town of Bethlehem- EVIE! 🙂
You’re such a precious gal, Cindy! Thank you!
