Our granddaughter, Finley Faith (5) is amazing, wonderful, beautiful, sweet, kind and very talented! 🙂
I read somewhere that it’s perfectly proper and acceptable for a Nana, Grandma, or Oma to NOT ONLY THINK these things but SPEAK OUTLOUD the truths about their grandchildren! LOL
She’s also very artistic. It seems she is always cranking out pictures and projects- running through a ream of paper every couple of weeks. Many times I post her art work on the refrigerator or sometimes I’ll tape it to the sliding glass doors down where we home school. Today, she colored five beautiful pictures. I went to take a load of laundry out of the dryer and walked back in the room, noticing Finley was standing by the sliding glass doors holding her pictures on the glass with her hands, her elbows and her body.
I said, “Whatcha doin Finley?”
“I’m waiting for the glue to dry, Nana.” She smiled sweetly, her blue eyes twinkling.
She had used Elmer’s glue to attach five of her newest creations to the window!!! Now that’s creativity!
Oh my goodness! I laughed and smiled back. My younger, mother self would have reacted with irritation and upsettedness that one of my children had made a mess for me to clean up! But as “Nana”, I realized I wasn’t even upset – She’s just a child and it made sense to use what was available to “get it done.” I was thinking how smart she was to use what she could find to accomplish the job without tape. (In fact, I left them up for a few weeks before I scraped and windexed.)
Is it possible God realizes we are “children” in so many areas
and He’s just delighted
when we move past our limitations and
figure out a way to “get it done”?
Maybe it’s messy. Perhaps it’s not the “correct” way to do something. But maybe, we just need to do what we know how to do. Is it possible, that we might need think outside the proverbial box- get out there and try- push our limits- make it happen- don’t let a “lack of tape” stop us?
Does it really matter how perfectly it gets done- but that it gets done?
I love this!
Serena- don’t you just love how creative “grandchildren” are? They have me laughing every day I get to see them! So much JOY!
